Google Preferred Source — Free Odoo App

Google Preferred Source badge integration on an Odoo website and eCommerce product page

What Is Google Preferred Source?

Google Preferred Source is a free, open-source Odoo module built by Softosmith that integrates Google's official Preferred Sources feature directly into your Odoo website and eCommerce store. It renders Google's localized badge on your pages, letting visitors mark your site as a preferred source, which signals to Google that your content should rank higher in Search results, AI Overviews, and Top Stories.

We built and ran this integration on our own site first (you can see the same badge live on our blog), then packaged it into a clean, SEO-safe Odoo module and open-sourced it on the Odoo Apps Store so any Odoo website can add it in minutes.

Key Features

  • Official Google JS SDK integration, rendering Google's localized preferred-source badge with light or dark theme options
  • Automatic eCommerce integration, displaying the badge on website_sale product pages
  • Drag-and-drop Website Builder snippet, so you can place the badge on any page without touching code
  • Two integration modes: Google's standard JS badge, or a plain Odoo-styled deeplink button with no third-party script
  • Multi-website support, with settings stored independently per website for multi-company Odoo instances
  • SEO-safe by design: no layout shift, no render-blocking scripts, and no impact on Core Web Vitals

Who This Is For

Any Odoo website or eCommerce store owner, marketing team, or SEO manager who wants their site recognized as an authoritative source in Google Search and AI-generated results. It's a good fit whether you're running a single Odoo website or a multi-company, multi-website Odoo instance.

Installation

  • Install the app from the Odoo Apps Store (link below, unlocked after opt-in) — search “Google Preferred Source” from Apps in your Odoo instance, or install it directly from the store page.
  • Go to Website > Configuration > Settings > Google Preferred Source to configure it.
  • Choose your integration mode: Google's official JS badge, or the plain deeplink button with no third-party script.
  • Drop the badge onto any page with the Website Builder snippet, or let it appear automatically on product pages.
  • Publish and confirm the badge renders correctly in both light and dark themes.
